A former center for the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers, Bart Oates
hasn't taken an off-season either during or after his football career.
While an important member of the prominent 1986 and 1990 Giants Offensive Lines,
he always contributed to the betterment of the team, both mentally and
physically. As center, he helped the Giants to two Super Bowl titles, and
later, led the 49ers to one. Once finished with football, Mr. Oates took
law classes and then worked as an attorney, receiving his law degree from Seton
Hall University in 1990.
Mr. Oates attended college at Brigham Young University and was an
All-American while there; he also won the Cougar Club's Memorial Scholarship
Award as a junior, and received his bachelor's degree in accounting from the
university in 1983. Signing with the Giants, Mr. Oates was named to the
All-Pro team twice and played in the 1990 Pro Bowl. After he joined the
49ers in 1994, Mr. Oates went to the Pro Bowl again that year and the next.
Since retiring from football, Mr. Oates has worked in litigation and tax
appeal work for the law firm of Ribis, Graham, & Curtin; he is currently
Vice-President of Gale & Wentworth Commercial Real Estate Investment
Services. He is also a member of the Bergen Group. In addition to
these consequential positions, Mr. Oates maintains an active role in many
services to the community, including the Collen Giblin Foundation, United Way,
New Jersey State Police Crime Prevention Speaker, Boy Scouts of America, JFK
Medical Center Foundation, Children’s Center for Therapy and Learning and the
New Jersey Sports Hall of Fame. |
